Wi-Spy 2.4i or Wi-Spy 2.4x?
Wi-Spy 2.4x
The Wi-Spy 2.4x comes with an external antenna replaceable by a directional or more powerful antenna. Also, it has higher sensitivity and can scan as low as -110 dBm. See the technical differences at the bottom of the page.
Most of MetaGeek's software (Chanalyzer, Chanalyzer Lite, Recon 2, Channel Picker) is compatible with Wi-Spy 2.4x. Chanalyzer allows the user to perform the following:
- Data Recording for later playback.
- Hardware Configurability (2300-2600MHz)
- Remote Access with Chanalyzer and Recon
- Wi-Fi and ZigBee Reports (grade scale for the clearest channel)
Wi-Spy 2.4i
MetaGeek designed this Wi-Spy for basic site surveying and entry-level wireless troubleshooting for users needing more information than inSSIDer has to offer. The Wi-Spy 2.4i only works with Chanalyzer Lite.
This device is perfect for wireless technicians doing simple installs, home audio and video installers, or gadget geeks looking for cheap spectrum analysis. It includes powerful Wi-Fi channel and network graphs for WLAN analysis.
